Aspire is a career exploration initiative connecting young people facing barriers to careers and industries they would otherwise never experience, broadening their career aspirations based on enhanced industry knowledge. Through Aspire, First Work delivers a three-pillar approach to youth career exploration to learn about non-traditional career paths, explore day-placements, and receive career mentorship from industry professionals. Aspire incorporates youth leadership development with contextualized skills, peer and career mentorship, and industry-informed sector-strategy development in three cities over one year supporting 400 youth. The combination of these elements affords young people career exposure and limitless prospects of exploration, network building, and reflection.

First Work’s Aspire Youth Summit will reshape the way youth think about career paths by providing new, well-coordinated and industry-supported programming to fuel the curiosity and exploration of future career options and pathways. Modeled as an alternative to take your kids to work day, the Summit will involve real employers, skill development, and mentorship, seminars and training sessions, and provide access and knowledge into various career industries.
